Our School
Our Mission Statement
Baldwin Oaks Academy is dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment based on the observations and writings of Dr. Maria Montessori and Dr. Donald E.Lyman. We strive for academic excellence while ensuring that children develop the habits, skills, and love of learning necessary to become responsible citizens of the community and later, the world. While the children develop intellectually, emotionally, and physically, emphasis is also placed on respect for selves, others, and the environment. Baldwin Oaks employs the Montessori Method while incorporating current trends in child research and theory of development in order to satisfy the needs of the whole child more fully.
Our Campus
Our Winter Park Road campus is located close to downtown Orlando, Baldwin Park, and the Museum District. The campus is shaded by beautiful old oak trees from which we derived our school’s name. The main building houses the office, two toddler classrooms, and two multi-purpose rooms. Our two primary classrooms are in separate buildings on the campus grounds. The children enjoy two large playgrounds within a park-like setting. Our playground equipment is specifically designed to encourage refinement of both fine and gross motor skills. With nine specific areas of exploration, children will be able to create, examine, and interact with the natural world around them.
Book a Tour
We invite prospective parents to come by Baldwin Oaks Academy to tour our facility and meet our staff. We offer tours on Monday – Thursday between the times of 9:00 a.m.-11 a.m. This will give you an opportunity to observe all classrooms actively engaged in the Montessori curriculum, from Toddler to Primary.
Our History
In September of 2006, Montessori Children’s Academy was purchased by Alliance Academy of Orlando. With the merger of these two exceptional programs, a new name, Baldwin Oaks Academy, was chosen to exemplify the strength of our commitment to educating children and to embrace the spirit of our school community.
Baldwin Oaks Academy maintains a strong Montessori foundation while enhancing the curriculum with enrichment programs designed to accommodate the learning styles of each of our students. We are fortunate to be able to incorporate the WIN (Weaving Integrated Networks) program, developed by Dr. Donald Lyman, into our Montessori curriculum. Dr. Lyman and Dr. Montessori share the same philosophy that all children, given the proper opportunities, resources, and materials, can and do learn.
Our Staff
We are very proud of our Baldwin Oaks Academy Staff. All our lead teachers in the Toddler and Primary classes have received their Montessori Certification from accredited training centers across the country, furthermore many of our teachers and assistants have received degrees from colleges and universities both here in the United States and abroad.
All our staff have completed 45 hours of training as required by the Department of Children and Families. In addition, they continue to stay current on educational issues and trends by completing an additional 10 hours of continuing education each year.
We believe the combined educational experience and dedication of our staff ensures an exceptional learning experience for your child.
